You love improved car audio and clear high-end sound. You love when music in your car plays as enjoyably as possible, at any volume. Maybe you love deep and clear bass? Or you want to turn up without any distortions or harmonics?
Figure all this out, having performed acoustic preparation of your automobile. No matter what sound system you have, sound improvement will be prominent either on default car audio, or on third-party hi-end acoustics.
What does acoustic preparation stand for? First, it is about fine sound- and noise-proofing of doors. You will have to apply dedicated materials to reach this goal, which are sound deadening plus heat and noise insulation foam.
Let’s look at the procedure of tuning our doors for better sound.
Here’s what you will need:
- sound deadening material, heat and noise insulation material
- screwdriver set
- clip remover
- degreaser and rags
Car door consists of three main parts. Outer surface with strength boosters, interior surface with large apertures for handling door lockers and covering. First, coat the outer part of the door.
Use two materials: the sound deadening as the first layer (Noico 2mm is recommended), and then heat and noise insulation foam over it (the best option is Noico Red 4mm)
Sound deadening layer must be applied across the door surface, except for the strength booster, sheet to sheet, and roll down each sheet thoroughly.
Then apply the heat and noise insulation foam over the first layer. Apply it without any cracks or gaps, across the entire surface. This layer is responsible for complete door insulation, which makes it look like a large acoustic system of a home theater.
Now let’s get to the interior metal part. Cover all the apertures with the sound-absorbing materials and leave no gaps or cracks. It’s even crucial to cover all wire holes and door locker rods. This layer should be as thick as possible, even two layers is recommended, which will allow for powerful and clear bass when playing. Make sure that the entire metal surface is covered completely. Speaker fixturing points are the most crucial places to be covered. You’d better remove the speaker, then cover the panel at the speaker fixturing points, and return to the positions, having fastened them to the door quite forcefully.
Now we just have to improve the door covering
Apply the sound deadening mat along the perimeter. You can cut a band out of material sheet. Also cover all wires inside the door with this material. This will prevent them from rattling at high volume. Cover the speaker along the perimeter with sound deadening band, thereby enabling it to fit tight to the covering when installing the latter.
Here it is. Assemble the door, latch all the clips, and screw all fixtures in.
Repeat these actions for other doors and then you get improved car audio.
Now your favorite artists and songs will be given a brand-new sound in your car. You’ll delight in crystal clear sound with fine bass, even at high volume.
